HERBS

Traditional Herbs. Nurtured by Nature.

a heritage of healing & flavour

Long before modern medicine cabinets and supermarket shelves, herbs held an important place in everyday life. Grown in kitchen gardens for their culinary, medicinal and household uses, these remarkable plants connected the garden to both the kitchen and the traditional knowledge passed down through generations.

At The Kitchen Garden, we draw inspiration from this rich heritage, cultivating traditional herbs with care for the soil, respect for wildlife and an appreciation for the many ways plants have been used throughout history.

learning from the plants

Every herb has its own character, growing habits and story. Some are familiar companions in the kitchen; others have long histories in traditional herbal practice, valued for their fragrance, properties and place in the natural world.

Our herb garden is a place to cultivate these plants, explore their histories and deepen our understanding of their relationship with people and the environment. Through growing, observation and continued study, we hope to keep this knowledge alive while learning to appreciate each plant on its own terms.

the herb garden, growing into the future

We hope to develop a garden of traditional herbs that celebrates their many uses, from culinary favourites to plants with a rich history in herbal medicine.

As the garden grows, so too will the opportunities to share what we cultivate and what we learn. For now, we are laying the foundations, exploring the traditions behind these plants and discovering how they can find their place in a modern kitchen garden.

Follow the journal to explore the plants, their histories and the evolving story of the herb garden.
